DENMARK – Global towage operator Svitzer has announced that the Board of Directors have appointed Kasper Friis Nilaus, VP and current Managing Director of Svitzer Europe, to succeed Henriette Thygesen as global CEO of Svitzer, effective June 15. Going forward, he will continue to report to Henriette Thygesen in her capacity as CEO of Maersk Fleet and Strategic Brands. Svitzer remains a fully-owned AP Moller-Maersk company.

Nilaus continues in the role as MD of Europe until a new MD is appointed.

FRANCE – GEFCO’s Air & Sea business has announced new leadership and a reorganisation. Since February, Paul-Henri Fréret, Executive Vice President has been leading GEFCO’s Air & Sea division. With broad experience at GEFCO, Fréret has managed all areas of the business in Asia and Latin America in addition to Groupe PSA operations at Group headquarters. He has also held global corporate management functions at GEFCO in warehouse logistics and road transport.

In May, Cyril Lefebvre was promoted to Global Sales and Marketing Director for the Air & Sea division, from Managing Director of French operations. With in-depth experience in Air & Sea operations at GEFCO and other Freight Forwarding companies, Lefebvre will shape and drive the division’s commercial and marketing strategy worldwide.

Air & Sea has also reinforced its organisation to drive business in three key sectors: industry, automotive and life sciences/healthcare. Serge Kisselevsky is now Industry Market Line Manager, while Adrian Draghici is Market Line Manager for Automotive. Karin Van-Den Brekel will continue to lead the Life Science and Healthcare business, a role she has occupied since 2019. These areas will be strongly supported by a new Trade Lane Manager, Amer Benouda and Tender Center Manager, Romain Bérard.

UK – V.Group has announced that Paddy Rodgers has been appointed as a non-Executive Director. Rodgers has served as CEO of Euronav for almost 20 years, and is currently Director at the Royal Museums Greenwich, England comprising of the Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House.

UK – Transport for London (TfL) has named Andy Byford as London's new Transport Commissioner. Byford most recent role was President and Chief executive Officer of New York City Transit Authority. He will join TfL on June 29, with the current Commissioner, Mike Brown MVO, staying on until July 10 to hand over to Byford and aid his start in the role before he takes up a position overseeing the renovation of the Houses of Parliament.

UK – BluJay Solutions has announced Sam Addeo as Chief Technology Officer.

US – Norfolk Southern (NS) has announced that John Scheib has stepped down from his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, effective June 1. In conjunction with this change, the company also announced several organisational enhancements. Functions within the Service Optimization and Customer Engagement Division, which include Strategic Planning, Network Planning and Optimization, and Customer Operations, will be integrated into the Finance, Operations, and Marketing divisions, respectively.

The company will integrate the strategy and operations functions previously led by Scheib into the business, creating efficiencies and closer alignment among teams.

The Strategic Planning Department will move to the Finance Division under the leadership of Mark George, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. This move aligns strategic planning with the newly created Financial Planning and Analysis group.

The Network Planning and Optimization Department will become part of the Operations Division. The team will continue to identify and drive operating efficiencies under the leadership of Michael Wheeler, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

The Customer Operations Department will become part of the Marketing Division under Alan Shaw, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

US – Crowley Logistics has announced the promotion of Bob Goldenberg to Vice President, Commercial Operations. In this new position, Goldenberg will report to Steve Collar, Crowley’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Logistics, and will continue to be based in the company’s Miami office. He will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the entire commercial logistics team.

Goldenberg joined Crowley as Vice President, Global Development, in 2019 following a 30-year career with Econocaribe.

US – The American Waterways Operators (AWO), the national tugboat, towboat and barge industry association, elected a new slate of leaders this week during the association's Spring Board of Directors / Annual Membership Meeting.

Arthur Mead, Vice President and Chief Counsel at Crowley Maritime Corporation, was elected Chairman; Del Wilkins, President of Illinois Marine Towing was elected Vice Chairman; and Clark Todd, President & Chief Operating Officer of Blessey Marine Services was elected Treasurer. Mead succeeds outgoing Chairman Scott Merritt, former Chief Operating Officer with Foss Maritime Company.

US – Rajant, the provider of Kinetic Mesh® wireless networks, has announced Jon Lederman to the newly created position of Vice President of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

US – LOC Group has announced the appointment of Steve Mason as Dynamic Positioning (DP) Manager to LOC Houston, where he is based. Mason is a Master Mariner, with over 25 years seagoing experience. He joins LOC from Hornbeck Offshore, where he was a Master for 8 years.

CANADA – Logistec Environmental Services has announced Jennifer Bailey as Vice President, Business Development, of SANEXEN Environmental Services, a subsidiary of Logistec. With a background in chemical engineering, Bailey is an accomplished leader with over ten years of in-depth experience in the field of water technology, most recently as Director of Global Business & Market Development and Strategic Initiatives at Solenis, a global specialty water treatment company.

ISRAEL – ZIM Integrated Shipping Services has announced that Aaron Fogel, the company’s Chair of the Board, will end his tenure in October, after 6 years in office. The process of finding his successor is underway.
