ROMANIA – Global freight and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss continues to be ‘on the rise’ in Romania despite what it sees as an overall stagnating of the market environment. Over the past three years, the Austrian company has invested approximately €22 million to build a large logistics terminal in Bucharest, establish several locations and acquire building sites for future projects thus becoming one of the top five companies in the country’s cargo sector.

Gebrüder Weiss has built up both a broad domestic and international customer base in Romania with companies from Austria, Germany and France doing business with GW Romania, carrying out general cargo and full load services. The growth in the number of domestic transport for large Romanian companies has proved to be particularly strong and with six locations in the country, more than 20,000 full-loads are being processed each year.

According to Thomas Moser, company regional manager for South-Eastern Europe and CIS, GW Romania’s customer structure is diverse and ranges from the large retail chains to the oil industry whilst recently it has taken over the national supply of spare parts for a large automotive company. Mr Moser commented:

“We have an annual growth rate of around 20% in Romania, we do not achieve this growth via our prices but through our level of quality. We are committed to stick to our promises and that is what our customers really appreciate.”
