CHINA –NETHERLANDS – EUROPE – In yet another energy related story DHL has announced it has opened a dedicated European distribution centre for solar panels manufactured in China situated in Moerdijk, the Netherlands and will supply all the logistics necessary to provide a seamless end to end supply chain for a developing market. The DHL teams in The Netherlands work closely together with their Chinese colleagues with Piak-hwee Tan, Vice President Marketing & Sales DHL Global Forwarding China commenting:

"It is very important for Chinese companies to have a comprehensive solution for all elements of their supply chain and to have a partner that can respond quickly to changing market conditions."

At its Moerdijk facility in The Netherlands, DHL already serves a number of companies from other energy sectors. For solar panel customers DHL has a dedicated warehouse area of around 4,000 square meters. The first customer has already signed up and discussions are underway with a number of other solar panel manufacturers. In addition to the actual distribution of the panels, the services of DHL's customs subsidiary Gerlach are also crucial for the Chinese market. Gerlach manages customs clearance and fiscal representation which is important for companies that do not have fiscal offices in Europe.
