Container Specialist Confirms Freight Activities will Move to New Thames Side Port Site

Pentalver to Open Own Facilities Within London Gateway
Shipping News Feature

UK – Pentalver is a name synonymous with freight containers in all their forms and aspects, and the company, previously strategically located at four British sites from Cannock in the Midlands, down to the South Coast at Southampton, has now opted to confirm the intention announced in our story of April last year, that the company has taken a 9 acre site at the new deep water Thames side port of London Gateway.

Although Pentalver’s operations include a variety of activities not immediately associated with shipping, they inevitably centre about the ubiquitous 20 and 40 foot boxes. Sales, leasing, repairs, reefer maintenance and bespoke specialist conversions are all within the company’s remit but, as with the groups other two port based facilities at Felixstowe and Tilbury, the new site will principally be concerned with freight related operations, including as it does, an initial phase of 5.3 acres capable of storing 2,800 TEU with expansion to the full 9 acres when business requires and within the first five years.

Pentalver also of course operates cargo handling and management services as well as container and specialised haulage and the company believes this new facility will be successful with a range of customers wishing to use the new port as a means of lowering transport costs, particularly when trading in the busy South East of England. Pentalver has been providing empty storage, dry repair and reefer services at its temporary premises at DP World London Gateway since April 2014. When the first phase opens for business in April 2015, Pentalver will offer its full range of services to vessels discharging at the port. Chris Lawrenson, Managing Director of Pentalver, said:

“Our DP World London Gateway operation has gone from strength to strength since opening our temporary site. We are delighted to be announcing plans for our new permanent depot in a deal which not only offers us the potential for growth, but reinforces our commitment to investing in our customers’ requirements at locations of their choice. Thee new operation will bolster the services we offer at our existing dockside depots and we are delighted to be playing a significant role in the future plans of the UK’s newest port.”
