GREECE – Dry bulk charter specialist Diana Shipping announced today that it has secured a further two time charter contracts for its Panamax fleet. Both contracts are scheduled to last for between eleven and thirteen months and are expected to gross an estimated $15.5 million for Diana Shipping if the minimum charter periods are utilised.

The first contract is with Glencore Grain BV of Rotterdam who shall charter the 73,583 dwt m/v Thetis at a rate of $23,000 per day from the middle of March, 2010.

The second deal is with New York-based J. Aron & Company, part of the commodity trading arm of Goldman Sachs, who shall charter the m/v Melite for $24,250 per day. The 76,436 dwt Melite will start operations for J. Aron at the end of this month.

The news comes on the heels of last weeks announcement that Diana had secured charters for two of its other vessels on two year contracts, indications that the company continues to perform well even in difficult times.
