UK – Pentalver is, like any other container company which offers a full portfolio of services including supply, transport, storage and inland logistics, often asked to perform bespoke operations. Last month however came a unique request for the Pentalver Cannock facility when it was asked to host a very special photo-shoot. Top Gear Magazine, the monthly publication of the BBC’s celebrated car show, used the depot as the venue for the front cover photography of the magazine’s August edition.

Beside Cannock Pentalver has four other UK based depots, Felixstowe, Southampton, Tilbury and London Gateway but it was the Midland location which saw a photo shoot to showcase the ‘best in class’ cars from a variety of manufacturers in an industrial setting, showing a contrast with the state of the art technology. The collection of cars would bring any petrol head out in a sweat and included Mercedes Benz S63 Coupe, Rolls Royce Wraith, BAC Mono, Citroen C-Cactus, Porsche Macan, VW UP, Jaguar Project 7, BMW i8, Range Rover and Audi S1.

The Rolls Royce alone is valued at £380,000. Weighing two and a half tonnes, the Pentalver and Top Gear team had to lift it, and the other cars as per the photograph, onto containers specially strengthened for the job. The photo shoot took two days from the delivery of cars to the final shoot itself. Andy Gallimore, Pentalver’s Cannock Depot Manager observed:

“At Pentalver we have years of experience with loading and handling prestige cars for import and export at our depots in Cannock, Felixstowe, Southampton and Tilbury, but I don’t think we’ve ever tried to put a Rolls Royce on top of a container before. I wanted staff at Pentalver to experience and get involved with this rare opportunity, which they did and Top Gear helped to ensure this was the case. The Top Gear team were absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to work with.”
