TAIWAN – GERMANY – Once again a logistics company based in Germany has shown its commitment to ensuring continuity and excellence in its ocean and airfreight operations by continuing a policy to educate suitable candidates in a developing overseas market. In 2008 freight forwarding associate group Weiss Röhlig launched their graduate recruitment program in Taiwan in collaboration with the China University of Science and Technology in Taipei.

Now the logistics specialist is expanding the course to ensure the development of suitable industry professionals. Students sign a contract for a year with Weiss Röhlig, when they finish the third year of their degree course with the University’s Department of Aviation Service and Technology before undergoing on the job basic training in all aspects of freight forwarding and logistics management with the company.

Weiss Röhlig is a joint venture between Bremen based sea and airfreight forwarder Röhlig and the Gebrüder Weiss group which have combined international interests worldwide. Holger Stoelker, Weiss Röhlig, Managing Director, Taiwan spoke enthusiastically of the company’s scheme saying:

“Identifying and developing talented young professionals for the logistics sector is one of the industry’s greatest challenges. Our collaboration with the university has been very beneficial for the students, who have the opportunity to develop their skills and understand how a logistics company operates.

“From Weiss Röhlig’s perspective we have offered a number of the graduate trainees’ full time positions at the end of their graduate training year, providing us with a good source of talent to help us grow in the future.”
