Shipping News Feature UK – As Liverpool F.C's most lauded ever manager once said ' Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that', so one can only imagine the rivalry when ten logistics firms, all stalwarts of the local shipping and freight forwarding community, took part in the Pentalver Felixstowe annual football tournament fighting out a five-a-side tournament for the pride of Suffolk.

Last month, in a night of high entertainment container specialists Pentalver and nine of the company’s customers including MSC, Cosco, K Line, OOCL, Ceva, Damco, Cory Brothers, EUF and Jordon Freight, took part to see who would have bragging rights amongst their peers for the next twelve months.

The teams were split into two divisions of five with division one consisting of Pentalver, MSC, Cosco, OOCL and K Line. MSC proved a strong outfit and booked their position in the semi-finals winning all four of their group stage games with a goal difference of 15. Both Pentalver and Cosco were locked on six points each fighting for the last semi-final position, fortunately for Pentalver, the hosts finished on a goal difference of +3 vs Cosco’s -4 meaning Pentalver would take the second semi-final position.

In a fiercely fought Division two Ceva, Damco, Jordon Freight, EUF and Cory Brothers battled it out and the final standings had first position and 4th position split by only three points. Top of the table were Ceva with two wins and two draws with Cory Brothers and Jordan Freight both finishing on six points. Cory Brothers went through to the semi-final on virtue of goal difference.

Some excellent football was on show with a great display by teams determined to take a competitive edge leading to the finals! Not all was lost for competitors leaving the competition at the group stages - with the buffet now available teams could head to the restaurant to replenish their energy!

Onto the semi-finals, with the winner of group one MSC playing the runners up of group two Cory Brothers leaving the other semi-final Pentalver vs Ceva. MSC continued where they left off in the group stages and flew straight into the final with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Cory Brothers. Pentalver and Ceva battled it out for the spot in the final, with Ceva running out 4-1 winners over the hosts, creating an exciting match up in the final.

High drama was the order of the day as, against the odds Ceva went 2-0 up in the final, with thoughts of an upset, before a great second half comeback sealed the final for MSC with an emphatic 4-2 victory to be crowned the winners of the Pentalver Felixstowe tournament 2017 to round of an evening marked by camaraderie, enthusiasm, laughter and, of course, great football. Bill Shankly would be proud.
