THE NETHERLANDS – Starting the shipping, logistics and other transport related staff movements this week, C.H. Robinson Worldwide has appointed Ivo Aris to Director of Global Forwarding for C.H. Robinson Europe, in an effort to accelerate growth across the continent. Aris’ primary focus will be to lead the continental growth and advancement of the global forwarding division, including setting freight forwarding strategy and overall execution. In addition, Aris is also Chairman of the Dutch Airfreight Forwarders’ Association, Air Cargo Netherlands.

UK – NETHERLANDS – Marine services and logistics group Peterson’s has appointed Eric Witton, who has over 30 years’ experience in the industry, to head up a new marine technical department. His team of staff will include permanent seamen and a wide network of contactors to undertake vessel audits, incident investigations and other marine technical based services that clients require. The new department will co-ordinate marine technical services at Peterson’s bases across the UK and Europe including Aberdeen, Shetland, Great Yarmouth, Heysham, Edzell, Denhelder and Ijmuiden.

UK – Pete Murphy has been named the new Managing Director of Isuzu Truck UK. Murphy, who currently heads up the company’s National Fleet Division, will work alongside the outgoing Nikki King until her retirement in October. After her retirement, King will continue working with Isuzu as Honorary Chairman.

UK – Stobart has announced the appointment of Iain Ferguson as its Chairman with effect from 1 October 2013. Ferguson is Chairman of Berendsen plc and a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Balfour Beatty plc and Gregg's plc. Paul Orchard-Lisle, Interim Chairman, and Rodney Baker Bates intend to step down from the Group Board in due course, when further appointments are made, but Orchard-Lisle will remain actively involved with the Group as Chairman of its Property Board.

HONG KONG – THE AMERICAS – UK – QBE Insurance Group has made a series of changes to its Board of Directors with the appointments of Margaret Leung and Marty Becker as Non-executive Directors, effective 21st August 2013. Leung is based in Hong Kong and holds the position of Non-executive Director at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing among others. Becker is based in the US and is currently the Chairman of West Virginia Media Holdings.

Ash Bathia, one of QBE's most senior and high profile London market underwriters, has left the company with ‘immediate effect’, and long-serving Non-executive Director Irene Lee, based in Latin America, has decided to retire from the Board effective 21st August 2013.

LATIN AMERICA – Damco has announced the appointment of French national, Samuel Israel as Regional CEO for the Latin America Region. Prior to Latin America, Israel held various commercial and operational roles in France, including Operations Manager for Danzas and Ocean Freight Director for Panalpina before making the move to the region in 1999.

US – Air Menzies International (AMI) has appointed Richard Marquez to the newly-created position of General Manager – Operations for its US business. He returns to AMI after a break of two years. Marquez will be responsible for strengthening operational processes across the business, with emphasis on adoption of best practice and improving operational efficiencies. He will also ensure compliance with all security, safety and Customs requirements. Marquez will be reporting to AMI’s Vice President – US, Mike Pattinson.

US – The Port Of Virginia has appointed Chris Gullickson as its new Economic Development Manager. Prior to joining the Port, Gullickson worked for the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance.

US – Adept Technology a leading provider of intelligent robots, has announced the appointment of four executives to its leadership team. Hai Chang has been promoted to Vice President of Asia and Strategic programmes where he oversees the company's operations in Asia, Oceania, and South America.

Larry Anderson joins Adept as Vice President of Mobile Sales. He will be responsible for executing the company's mobile robot strategy on a worldwide basis. Merrill Apter has been appointed as the Vice President of North American Sales where he is responsible for driving sales in the area and expanding the company's distribution channels in Mexico and Canada. Terry Hannon joins the company as Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Strategy. He is responsible for developing the company's long term strategy and product roadmaps.

AUSTRIA - Wolfgang Graf is the new Branch Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Air & Sea Maria Lanzendorf (Vienna). In his new role, he will be directing the Vienna office’s operations and reporting directly to Michael Büchele, General Manager Air & Sea Central and Eastern Europe at Gebrüder Weiss.
