GERMANY – Earlier this month, logistics providers Kuehne + Nagel announced that it is expanding BMW logistics centre in Wörth, Bavaria, by adding 50,000 square metres of space which will bring the total area of the freight hub to 95,000 square metres. The logistics centre supplies BMW plants in Dingolfing, Landshut and Leipzig with K+N organising the transportation services between the supply centre and the BMW production sites. The supply centre will also be used as a cross-dock, where goods from suppliers will be received, handled and distributed to all Bavarian BMW plants.

Kuehne + Nagel has been providing complex contract logistics solutions to BMW since 1999, including spare parts logistics, process management and the supply of BMW’s plant in Leipzig. Throughout Germany, Kuehne + Nagel are operating logistics centres with a total area of 230,000 square metres for BMW. Jens Wollesen, member of the management board of Kuehne + Nagel and responsible for Contract Logistics in the Central European region said:

“We are happy to further expand the collaboration with BMW. The production supply we are enabling for BMW from Wörth is of high logistical complexity. With the new supply centre for BMW we are setting a milestone for Kuehne + Nagel’s automotive logistics in terms of production delivery and sequencing.”
