GREECE – Following on from this week’s widespread industrial actions by civil servants and government employees across Greece against government spending cuts comes confirmation that Greek custom’s officials are to hold a nationwide strike next week as well.

The strike is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (the 16th, 17th and 18th) and is expected to affect all ports and routes of entry into the country.

This will mean that freight shipments into Greece, already running behind schedule due to this week’s action and previous blockades by Greek farmers, will be further delayed.

With no immediate resolve to Greece’s economic problems likely it looks as though logistics into the troubled country will continue to be blighted by problems.
