NORWAY - Vectura AS, a supplier of logistics services for producers, agents and importers of wine and spirits in Norway, has signed a three-year agreement to outsource warehousing and distribution activities at its Trondheim site to Kuehne & Nagel. Vectura is a company in Arcus-Gruppen and the leading logistics company for wine, spirits and other alcoholic beverages in Norway, with a market share of 49% in 2009. Vectura supplies complete logistics solutions, which include imports from more than 1000 suppliers in 50 countries.

Kuehne & Nagel will manage the 8,000 sqm facility which currently handles 11 million units per annum and has over 3,700 active stock keeping units. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel will select and manage the transport carriers used to undertake all deliveries from the Trondheim warehouse.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kuehne & Nagel is able to benefit from additional warehouse and office capacity at Trondheim not currently utilised by the Vectura operation. This idle space will be used to expand Kuehne + Nagel’s network in Norway, offering warehousing, road, sea, and airfreight services to new and existing customers.

Rolf Brustad, Managing Director of Vectura, says, “Kuehne & Nagel is a professional logistics company that will continue to provide excellent service and effective solutions for our customers to further develop our business and market share.”

“This opportunity enables Kuehne + Nagel to generate value for Vectura’s supply chain whilst developing our service offering to customers in the Trondheim area,” explains Yngve Ruud, National Manager for Kuehne + Nagel in Norway.

“By establishing a sustainable business at the site which will exist beyond Vectura’s planned exit of Trondheim in 2013, Kuehne & Nagel is also able to preserve the jobs of the 22 employees currently working there.”
