UK – Women in Logistics UK (WIL) have decided to host an instructional event to advise and promote the use of various forms of social media to anyone involved in the carriage or shipping of freight and supply chain services. They have been lining up some specialist speakers for a Social Media Event on the 23rd March to be held in Stoke on Trent.

Carl Silverstone from Fan and Followers will open the day by looking at the opportunities and challenges presented by the rise of social media and offer a concise view of future social media trends, tools and sites to keep a close eye on in the coming months.

This will be followed by practical workshops on Twitter and LinkedIn, run respectively by Amanda Jackson, Account Director at Tigerfish PR and Jennifer Waring, Principal Recruitment Consultant from Manpower Professional. They will provide hands-on tips to make Twitter and LinkedIn work for you and for your business and to help you gain competitive edges. There will also be plenty of networking opportunities throughout the day.

Marie Boyer, Office manager at France Line Transport's all female management team and steering member of WIL UK and co-organiser of the event, commented:

“At our recent AGM, LinkedIn was a hot topic, and the theme of LinkedIn and Social Media got the most votes out of the 25 or so topics for events in 2011. We therefore decided to organise an event on that subject as soon as possible to help our members use social media effectively to get ahead.”
