SWITZERLAND – In their new Pratteln country headquarters freight and logistics specialists DHL say they have one of the most modern facilities of this kind in the Federal Republic. With a footprint of 48,000 square metres the company reckon they can achieve the very highest security standards for their groupage and European less than truckload (LTL) Euroconnect services.

Aside from housing the office building, the logistics centre provides approximately 12,200 square meters for loading and reloading, including 62 docking positions for trucks, a warehouse area of 8,000 square meters, a storage facility for dangerous goods and an open customs warehouse. The complete shipment transaction and warehouse area is under video surveillance; electronic access controls, burglar alarm systems and smoke detectors add to enhanced security.

At Pratteln, DHL Freight stays close to the border triangle of Switzerland, France and Germany. The location serves as an important hub for the distribution of LTL shipments to approximately 50 European countries and the transport of partial as well as full-truck loads. With the new facility at Pratteln, which was built in 2010, DHL Freight is using a facility of its long-time Swiss partner company Paul Leimgruber AG.

Roman W. Bisig, Managing Director of DHL Freight Switzerland says that the new centre will provide an excellent infrastructure for customers commenting:

“This also applies to transports of temperature-sensitive shipments, which are steered by the Cold Chain Competence Center in Pratteln.”

DHL tell us they are still looking for staff for their UK Euroconnect services – Details HERE.
