SOUTH AFRICA – Tigers South Africa, part of the global e-commerce fulfilment, transportation, and supply chain solutions specialist group headquartered in Hong Kong, has officially opened a dedicated e-commerce centre at its Johannesburg, South Africa, warehouse facility, as the online retail market continues to grow globally.

The facility is the first of its kind for Tigers in South Africa, and the move coincides with the recent announcement about freight rate quote engine Doozee being rolled-out across Tigers’ global internal network. The centre is equipped with the Tigers-developed ScanPak App that allows staff to conduct scan checks while packing shipments and create waybills for packages to ensure efficient handling of goods and Paul Lawrence, Managing Director, Tigers South Africa, commented:

“The new e-commerce facility will take Tigers South Africa to the next level, as the online retail market continues to be a key focus for us. With the ongoing e-commerce revolution and digital technology transforming the way consumers shop, we find ourselves in a very good strategic position to further enhance and grow this vertical for Tigers. As with most Tigers solutions, ScanPak is replicable, and we will roll out the same solution in Cape Town by the end of August.”

The latest move follows a series of innovations for the company, all connected with the burgeoning e-commerce trade. Last year it launched SmartHub:Connect, which it claims is the world’s first combined freight, e-commerce, and logistics portal. eTigers, its omni-channel fulfilment product, provides the processes and software for full end-to-end e-commerce solutions, that can be used as a full suite, or as part to be swapped in and out, to work with customers’ existing systems.

In 2017, Tigers launched the Tigers eShop, an online trading platform, offering customers a marketplace with full e-commerce supply chain support in some of the world’s largest e-retail markets and subsequently opened eShops in China, Malaysia, USA, Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. Andrew Jillings, Chief Executive Officer, Tigers, said:

“E-commerce is a key market for Tigers, particularly as digital technology and online retail continues to drive innovation in the logistics and supply chain sector. The new dedicated e-commerce centre in South Africa is an important investment for the future direction of Tigers and is a testament to the hard work of the team in South Africa in developing the new facility.”
