P D Ports wins Yorkshire Tea Container Business

Boost for Teesport Logistics Centre

UK – Taylors of Harrogate, the beverage supplier, whose products include Yorkshire Tea, have moved the handling and storage of their 1000 plus import containers to a revamped 40,000 square foot facility owned and operated by P D Ports in Teesport.

Tea and Coffee has traditionally been imported by the company through Southern Ports, then warehoused locally prior to its carriage to Taylors own factory for processing. The new route will substantially reduce the number of road miles which the goods need to undergo.

The new facility has been upgraded to food quality standard and has been equipped with the necessary equipment to offload the various products prior to loading onto pallets.

In a statement Mr David Robinson CEO of the PD Ports Group said “The arrival of Taylors of Harrogate at Teesport further cements the growing significance many of the UK's major brands and retailers give to the portcentric logistics solution offered by PD Ports. It gives further strength to our long term strategy to develop Teesport as the portcentric logistics hub for handling goods destined for Northern markets. We are delighted to have established what we expect to be a long and successful partnership with Taylors of Harrogate.”
