Potential for Innovation in the Port Sector Recognised and Encouraged

Programme Identifies Young Companies Ripe for Progression

NETHERLANDS – PortXL, a mentorship-driven open-innovation programme focusing on port related industries with the aim of helping the businesses to grow, has completed its yearly scouting phase from which it has identified fourteen companies from around the world that showed the most potential to innovate in the port sector.

Between September 2017 and January 2018, PortXL scouted 1000 start-ups and scale-ups relevant to the industry. 25 promising start-ups and scale-ups were invited to participate in the PortXL Selection Days on February 12 and 13, to earn a spot in the 3-month acceleration programme. During the Selection Days, the 25 companies had the opportunity to present themselves in front of over 150 port and innovation experts.

The selected companies and the technologies with which they will impact the sectors logistics, maritime and energy, are as follows:

Maritime & Logistics

Bunker Connect – digitalisation bunkering

DockTech – predictive maintenance

Explect B.V. – digitalisation logistics

Ionada Incorporated – emission reduction

Marine Bubble Flow B.V. – fuel reduction

Shipskart Marine Private Ltd. – digitalisation logistics

The Big Smile – cargo efficiency

WhaleWashing – (predictive) maintenance

Energy

BDB Greenpower – sustainable energy

Ondavia, Inc – SQHE (Safety, Quality, Health & Environment)

CargoLedger BV – blockchain

ECOncrete Tech Ltd. – sustainability

MapGage – asset maintenance

Threatspan – cyber security

The companies will now participate in the PortXL 2018 programme, which starts in Rotterdam on March 12. They will be supported for three months to accelerate their technology to the market and find a first or second customer. On June 14, the companies will show their progress during the closing event Shakedown.
