US – ASIA – Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and ‘K’ Line have agreed to cooperate on a container loop serving the US East Coast from Asian ports via the Suez Canal. The route will be known as the ‘SVE’ (South China/Vietnam - East Coast)service and will replace existing ‘K’ Line services. MOL will provide two ships and "K"LINE seven ships, with the average capacity of approximately 5,500 TEU and will include a call at Jacksonville and brand-new coverage to Halifax, with competitive transit times.
The inaugural voyage will be the “Suez Canal Bridge” sailing from Shekou on the 15th May 2010. The port rotation is as follows:
(Vietnam) Cai Mep (Tue/Wed) - (China) Shekou (Fri/Sat) - Hong Kong (Sat/Sun) - Yantian (Sun/Mon) - Singapore (Thu/Thu) –(Canada) Halifax (Tue/Wed) - New York (Thu/Fri) - Norfolk (Fri/Sat) - Jacksonville (Sun/ Mon) - Savannah (Mon/Tue) - Singapore (Sun/Mon) - Cai Mep (Tue).
