UAE / AUSTRALIA – Australian logistics company Toll Holdings Ltd has purchased a leading private international freight forwarding business based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of Dubai-based Logistic Distribution Systems (LDS) will provide Toll with a ready made presence within both the UAE’s internal logistics market and an air and ocean freight forwarding capability to service Arabian import / export customers.

The move is another key part of Toll’s ambitious plans to become a major player in the global freight community which has already seen the company recently expand by buying other freight forwarders in New Zealand and Japan.

Speaking of the purchase Toll Holdings managing director Paul Little said that: “The Middle East and in particular the UAE is a key strategic market for Toll Global Forwarding (TGF).

“The acquisition of LDS enhances our existing operations in the Middle East and is consistent with our growth strategy.

“The capability and positioning of LDS as a quality freight forwarder in the trade lanes between Dubai and Europe and the Asia Pacific is attractive to Toll and when combined with our existing operations helps to secure a global trans-shipment hub for freight movements between Europe and Asia for TGF.

“Into the future, LDS will also provide TGF with a platform for strong growth in the broader UAE and Middle East region.”
