UK – For those who like to take their work home with them a new weekly TV show may prove on interest. Hilary Devey CEO and Chairman of the Pall-Ex Group, Britains leading palletised freight distribution network, and the lady behind the outfits growth as well as her responsibility for the original concept will present The Business Inspector at 8pm for four weeks from 17th March.

Ms Devey featured in a recent Radio 4 broadcast and told of how she conceived of the pallet network whilst working in a traffic office in 1996 but nobody, from her then boss to the money men, took her idea too seriously at first. On reflection however some reconsidered and Pall-Ex was born to grow into the pallet network distribution system we now know and which numbers over one hundred of the country’s top truck companies amongst its members. Reality TV enthusiasts may recognise her from 2008’s “Secret Millionaire” series.

The new programme is targeted at small businesses with particular emphasis on record keeping. Commenting on the forthcoming programme, which is sponsored by HM Revenue and Customs, HMRC Business Customer Unit Director Stephen Banyard said:

“We know that most small businesses want to get their tax right. But we also know too that failure to take reasonable care costs the Exchequer over £6bn a year, with a major cause being poor record keeping. We hope this series will raise awareness of the need for good record keeping. We also want small businesses to realise the benefits to them – such as improved cash flow – of taking better care of their records and paperwork.”
