United Airfreight Sees Slight Increase

Traffic up from June
Shipping News Feature

USA - United Airlines has reported a slight increase in airfreight carried in July, with the carrier’s traffic up 5 percent from June.

Though airfreight at United is still down 17 percent compared to July 2008, this means last month was the busiest for the airline since November 2008. It is also a third better than United Cargo’s low point in January.

An improvement of any sort is welcome news for the airline, which has seen its cargo revenues fall by just over 46 percent in the first six months of 2009, compared to the same period a year ago, to $245 million.
